The Unmasking: Meeting Your True Self
Welcome to the Soul Unscripted blog. This blog serves as a space for self-discovery, empowerment, and community. It’s a space where you can tap into your inner strength and potential.
We continue the journey in the overarching theme of "Treasures in the Shadows: Stepping into Alignment." This post's theme is The Unmasking: Meeting Your True Self.
We will continue to build on the previous two focus cards of Will-O’-Wisp and Deep Diver, and the clarifying words of treasures hidden in the shadows, the great mystery, epiphany, success, diving into a task, embracing risk, and new discoveries. We will journey deeper with these cards to continue answering the questions: “What will help us this month to release what no longer serves us and step into greater alignment with who we are and who we are becoming?”
The main focus card for this post is from The Shaman’s Dream Oracle deck: First Breath.
The clarifying words from this card are a
fresh start, renewed curiosity, natural trust, and a beginner’s mind. I also used the Native Spirit Oracle
card as a clarifier: Tracker.

How is your journey going with the treasures hidden in the shadows? Have you had time to take a closer look to see if a new version of you is peeking out? Have you been able to dive deep to discover what risk you might be willing to take to unveil this version of yourself?
Moving on to the next card, First Breath, which has the clarifying words of “fresh start,” “renewed curiosity,” “natural trust,” and a “beginner’s mind.” With a beginner’s mind, I recommend leaving the old stories behind. We become very attached to our stories, but most of the time, the stories we tell ourselves are not even our own. They come from our parents, teachers, religion, and society. You may have taken them on as your own, but they aren't your stories.
In my own life, I spend a lot of time being introspective about the stories I tell myself and how they affect me. I ask myself, “Is the story moving me forward? Is the story making me better, or is it holding me back?” This is why I always come back to having a sense of adventure and curiosity.
The Tracker card adds another dimension: focus. It may be easier if you can focus on one possible area for this new journey. There are so many aspects and avenues you can take that it can become daunting if you think of all the things that might need to be changed or looked at. If you can focus on one aspect at a time and approach it with a beginner's mind, it would make the task easier. Easier. Well, easy doesn't always mean simple.
If you want to practice a beginner's mind, one way is not to label or name what you see or experience. When I practice this, I observe something, like a glass of water, and I don't label it. I observe that it's there. I know what it is, so why do I need the extra mental chatter of labeling it to myself? This mental shift takes practice, but it is well worth the effort if you can be a witness or an observer in your everyday reality.
I invite you to harness the power of the first breath and begin to let go of the old narrative. Use these new beginnings to animate and unmask this new version of yourself.
As always, take what resonates with you and leave what doesn’t. Although I used the cards to help focus the messages in this post and the others, I rely on my intuition more than anything else. So, you don’t need the cards to do your own deep dive. However, if the cards have helped you, I invite you to sit with these cards yourself and notice what comes up for you. Your intuition is a powerful guide, and your practice should reflect your unique path. Be curious, stay open, and let the cards and intuition speak to you in the way that feels most true to you.
You are not alone on this journey. Welcome to our community, where we support each other in our adventure to self-discovery and personal growth. What stories are you willing to let go of? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
